W. E. B. Du Bois compiles multiple essays on the subject of race in his book The Souls of Black Folk. He discusses the differences in how black people view the world compared to how white people view it. He touches on historical significance as part of his arguments. Cultural differences of the black community are also important themes in his essays. Du Bois uses this collection of essays to try to describe what it is like to be a black person living in America at the beginning of the 1900s.
